If you are using a 2CH Dual dashcam you will need to find a suitable place to place the rear camera. If the rear camera is not waterproof, you often have only one option: inside on the rear window. It is best to place it as high as possible - just below the brake light - so that you have a good view to the rear.
Some rear cameras are waterproof and can therefore be placed outside. If your car has a spoiler, this is often a good place to place it. It is then slightly covered, keeping the camera drier and the lens cleaner. Another option is to mount the camera above the number plate or under the bumper. In that case, the camera is more likely to get wet and dirty and this will not be conducive to image quality and longevity. It is therefore also better to mount a waterproof camera inside on the rear window.
At the hinge of the door where you place the camera, make sure you leave enough play with the cable. This ensures that the cable cannot break when opening or closing the door. If you place the camera outside, we recommend making a loop with the cable under the camera. Through this loop, excess water and condensation can ‘drip’ away more easily. Without such a loop, excess water and condensation can accumulate around the camera and cause problems later on.
