The Kenwood DRV-A510W is the 2K Quad HD model from Kenwood's updated range of dashcams. Kenwood's models have been improved in several areas and are considerably more compact than the previous range of cameras. The DRV-A510W records sharp Full HD videos and is equipped with Wifi and GPS. The R110 camera can be connected as an option to also record behind the car.
The Kenwood DRV-A510W films in excellent 2K Quad HD (2560*1440p) quality. The images are of good quality both during the day and at night, so that people and cars are clearly recognisable. Thanks to the built-in HDR (High Dynamic Range), the images are also of excellent quality in the dark or in poor conditions.
The R110 camera can be connected as an option to also record behind the car. The Kenwood R110 rear camera is a waterproof Full HD camera with an 8-metre cable. You can easily connect it to the front dashcam and the cameras will record simultaneously. The R110 rear camera is also equipped with motion detection during parking mode.
The 2.0-inch LCD with 4:3 ratio allows you to easily change settings and view videos. The screen has a screensaver function that turns it off after a few minutes of driving so that you are not distracted while driving. Despite the screen, the Kenwood DRV-A510W is very compact and fits behind almost any rear-view mirror.
The Bluetooth and Wifi connection allows you to easily control the dashcam via your smartphone. Changing settings and viewing images is super easy with the Kenwood App. Connection is only possible within range (+/- 5 metres) of the camera.
Use the optional universal CPL filter to reduce annoying and harmful reflections in the image. Sometimes reflections from the dashboard are visible in the videos, but a CPL filter can filter these out of the videos for the most part.
The Kenwood DRV-A510W is equipped with GPS so that the current speed and coordinates are tracked. If desired, the speed can be displayed at the bottom of each video, and the filming location and route can be viewed later via the app.
Kenwood offers the option to secure your car while parked. Connect the dashcam to the CA-DR1130 hardwire kit to provide power to the dashcam even when the car is turned off. After turning off the ignition, the dashcam automatically switches to one of two parking modes:
Motion detection: The camera is on standby and starts a 30-second recording when it detects visual movement. It then switches back to parking mode.
Time lapse: The camera takes a photo every second, which is processed by fast-forwarded 30fps video. This special recording method is slightly less detailed but also uses much less power and data.
With every vibration, the dashcam takes a secure 30-second normal recording, after which it switches back to parking mode.
With a modest viewing angle of 126 degrees, a large area around the car is recorded without distorting the image too much at the sides.
The DRV-A510W comes with a compact but sturdy self-adhesive mount. An additional mount is available as an option (see accessories) so that the camera can be used in multiple cars.
The Kenwood DRV-A510W has a built-in G-sensor. This sensor registers vibrations in the event of a collision. In that case, the current video is stored securely.
The dashcam is equipped with loop recording, which means that the oldest images are automatically overwritten by new ones. The videos are stored in shorter 5-minute clips, and once the SD card is full, the oldest clip is deleted.
Secure recordings (manually selected or detected by the G-sensor) are stored in a separate folder and are not deleted by the loop recording. This way, you always have access to the latest and most important videos.
The Kenwood DRV-A510W supports Micro SD cards up to 256GB, good for about 30 hours of Full HD recordings. The Micro SD card is not included as standard.
